Funds Allocated for Durlești Fire Recovery

Moldova

The Commission for Emergency Situations has approved funding for the recovery efforts following the 16 May fire in a residential block in Durlești. About 1.22 million lei will be allocated for the construction of a temporary roof and waste removal, while 55.8 thousand lei will fund a technical assessment of the damaged attic to develop a repair plan for the 16 destroyed apartments, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The funds will come from the Government Intervention Fund and be managed by Durlești City Hall, which will work with the State Service for Project and Construction Verification and Expertise.

Investigations are underway into construction irregularities in the building. Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized the need for thorough analysis and the elimination of corruption in the construction sector, stating: “The state must ensure compliance with the law to guarantee the safety of apartment buyers.”
