Online University Admission Requires Free Electronic Signature for Graduates

Moldova

High school and college graduates applying for university admission online in the Republic of Moldova will now need an electronic signature. This service will be provided free of charge by the Ministry of Education and Research as part of a new initiative, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Representatives from two mobile phone companies will visit 305 high schools and 49 colleges across the country to issue electronic signatures directly to students, making the process convenient and accessible. “We are meeting students halfway, providing this service at their educational institutions,” said Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, during a press conference.

The Ministry aims to equip 20,000 young people with electronic signatures by May 2025. This will enable them to use the e-admission system, which was successfully introduced last year for undergraduate studies via eadmitere.gov.md. Starting in 2025, both bachelor’s and master’s programs will fully support online admissions. Unlike 2024, when access was allowed via email or phone, electronic signatures will become mandatory in 2025.

Additionally, starting March 31, 2025, the Public Services Agency will issue a new type of ID card that includes an integrated electronic signature, offering another convenient option for students.

For those unable to obtain their electronic signature during the scheduled visits, the option to submit documents in person at universities will remain available.

The Ministry aims to increase the number of students pursuing higher education within the Republic of Moldova, as only 50% of high school graduates chose local universities last year.
