Young man drowns in Venice canal
A 20-year-old man died by drowning after falling, together with two other peers, into a canal in Venice, in the San Polo district.
Firefighters intervened at around 5:30 a.m. Two members of the group were rescued by a passing boat, while the third, for reasons still under investigation, did not resurface, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Two lagoon fire engine boats from the Venice Dorsoduro station responded, supported by regional diving units.
At around 7:15 a.m., divers located and recovered the body in the waters near the Guardia di Finanza barracks in Campo San Polo. Carabinieri and emergency medical personnel from Suem 118 were also present at the scene.
