“We need to be very clear about this: at the moment, no formal offer has been made to the United States. So far, we have discussed the areas in which we believe a potential agreement could be reached, and therefore we must strongly emphasize that we are fully engaged in our discussions with the United States. A negotiated solution remains our clear and preferred outcome.”

This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill during a press briefing regarding the idea that the EU might purchase more goods from the US to balance the trade imbalance, as mentioned by Commissioner Maros Sefcovic in an interview with the Financial Times, CE Report quotes ANSA.
