Will Måneskin reunite at the Sanremo Festival? “I’m working on it, I’d really like that,” Stefano De Martino said in an exclusive interview with Tv Sorrisi e Canzoni, published on newsstands from September 1.
As for the other names he would like to have on stage, the festival’s artistic director and host said he has “a shortlist of desired names” that he is working on extensively and hopes to secure at least half of them, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Asked whether he was referring to international guests, De Martino replied,
“Yes, also.” As for Italian artists, he said that beyond the veterans of Italian music, he believes it is important for national artists to compete in the festival. He stressed that Sanremo should be held “with all the proper rules” for the competition, as this benefits the artists, adding that they need to “get their hands dirty.”
The possibility of a Måneskin reunion has been circulating for some time. Fabrizio Ferraguzzo, who is behind the group’s success, was chosen by De Martino as his music consultant. Several months ahead of the 77th edition of the festival, scheduled for February 16-20, 2027, speculation over potential guests is already growing. De Martino has been spotted at concerts by Rosalía, Olivia Dean and Bruno Mars, and attended major summer events such as the Miami festival. He is reportedly considering Dua Lipa as a superstar guest or co-host. At the top of his wish list, as De Martino himself revealed, is Vasco Rossi, who will celebrate 50 years of his career next year.
Meanwhile, De Martino spoke about preparations for the festival, drawing inspiration in part from his long summer break in Los Angeles.
“There are two major themes running in parallel,” he explained. “One is the musical cast: what the singers will do, ideas for the cover performances, and so on. The other is entertainment, including co-hosting and show segments. Right now, the priority is the cast, which needs to be finalized first, but I have to say we are well advanced on both fronts.”
The number of Big artists competing could be reduced. “Yes, especially ahead of Friday’s performance night, which requires specific show segments. And then, on both Tuesday and Wednesday, everyone will perform: with fewer singers, there is more time to do that.” For now, De Martino is “leaning toward 24 singers,” although he has already listened to “hundreds” of songs.
The date for officially announcing the lineup remains a secret. “I still don’t know when or how we will announce it. In general, I like the idea of bringing something new.” The six finalists of the Giovani competition will definitely have a spot during the first evening of Rai1’s prime-time programming to give them maximum visibility. It could be shortly before Affari tuoi begins, or through a spin-off broadcast immediately afterward.
