French actor Pierre Deny, who became internationally known thanks to his role in the Netflix TV series Emily in Paris, died on Monday at the age of 69 due to medical complications caused by ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), according to the American publication Variety.

Pierre Deny played the character Louis de Leon — the CEO of the fashion company JVMA and the father of Nicolas (played by Paul Forman), the boyfriend of Mindy (played by Ashley Park) — in seasons 3 and 4 of the hit TV series, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

The French actor’s daughter confirmed his death on Wednesday in a statement to the French newspaper Le Parisien: “With deep emotion, we announce the death of Pierre Deny, which occurred on Monday following a sudden and severe episode of ALS.”

Besides his role in Emily in Paris, Pierre Deny appeared in more than 100 French films and television series, including Une femme d'honneur, Julie Lescaut, L'Instit, Joséphine, ange gardien, La Nouvelle Maud, Camping Paradis, and Braquo.

Alongside his performance in Emily in Paris, he was probably best known for his appearances in the long-running French soap operas Plus belle la vie and Demain nous appartient, where he appeared in more than 500 episodes.

Filming for the sixth season of Emily in Paris, which will also be its final season, began last week in Greece.
