The film “Made in EU” by director Stefan Komandarev won the Audience Award at the 52nd International Film Festival in the German city of Wurzburg, the Bulgarin National Film Center (NFC) said.

After the votes were counted, the results for the Bulgarian entry and North Macedonia’s “DJ Ahmet” differed by only five decimal places and organizers decided to award a joint first place, the NFC added.

“Made in EU” was part of the programme dedicated to cinema from Eastern and Southeastern Europe and attracted strong audience interest, CE Report quotes BTA.

The film opened the 39th edition of the Kinomania Film Festival, which took place from November 13 to 30.

In November, Komandarev’s production was also honored with the Critics’ Award at the Arras Film Festival in France.

The film also received the Grand Prize for Best Feature Film at the 43rd edition of the Festival of Bulgarian Feature Films “Golden Rose” in September last year.

The world premiere of “Made in EU” took place at the Venice Film Festival in 2025. The film was included in the Spotlight section.
