Albanian soprano returns to Royal Opera House
Acclaimed Albanian soprano Ermonela Jaho returns to London’s Royal Opera House to sing the role of Violetta Valery in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata.
The production, conducted by Antonello Manacorda and directed by Richard Eyre, runs throughout January at the Covent Garden venue, CE Report quotes ATA.
Jaho will perform alongside Italian tenor Giovanni Sala as Alfredo Germont. Other cast members include Aleksei Isaev, Veena Akama-Makia and Barnaby Rea.
The production is directed by Sir Richard Eyre, a leading British director whose work spans film, theatre, television and opera.
Eyre has won three Laurence Olivier Awards and received multiple BAFTA and Tony nominations. His operatic credits include Carmen, Werther, Le nozze di Figaro and Manon Lescaut. He served as director of the National Theatre from 1988 to 1997 and holds the titles of Knight and Companion of Honour.
