New artistic video offers unique way to promote Moldova
In Chișinău, the artistic video “When I Am Laid in Earth” was launched, a project initiated by SonArte aimed at reviving the connection between heritage, classical music, and contemporary artistic expression in the Republic of Moldova.
Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan, who attended the event, said that “this video represents one of the most distinctive and unique ways of promoting our country,” CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
The video, filmed in the summer of 2025 inside the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Căușeni—one of the country’s most valuable historical monuments—interprets the famous aria “When I Am Laid in Earth” from Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas, reflecting on fragility, memory, and resignation.
“Moldova is beautiful and unique both through its places and its talented people. This is a true manifesto of beauty, featuring stunning images of medieval frescoes carefully restored at the initiative of young Moldovan artists of international renown. I am convinced that this video represents one of the most distinctive and unique forms of promoting our country. I sincerely thank the creators for this wonderful initiative,” Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan stated.
As reported by CE Report, renowned artists took part in the project, including soprano Valentina Nafornița, cellist Radu Croitoru, and accordionist and project initiator Pavel Efremov. The project aims to open new creative formats in which heritage and classical music become accessible to a wider audience in an emotional and relevant form.
The video is available to the public, offering an artistic experience that combines national heritage with classical music, transforming history and art into a landmark cultural resource.
