Bulgarian Christmas song delights Cairo audience
The Cairo Celebration Choir and Orchestra performed the Bulgarian song "It's Christmas Again" for its 26th Annual Christmas Concert. The song, composed by Boris Karadimchev with lyrics by Alexander Petrov captivated the full house at Chapelle De La Salle in Cairo. The soloist was 15-year-old Siana Khedr, the daughter of a Bulgarian violinist and an Egyptian guitarist.
The performance was the first event marking the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Egypt, which will be celebrated in 2026. The scores were provided to the Bulgarian Embassy in Egypt by the Sofia Philharmonic, CE Report quotes BTA.
This year, the Cairo Celebration Choir performed under the baton of Jennifer Gotten with opera singers Dina Iskander, Amina Khayrat, Elhamy Amin, and jazz singer Ahmed Harfoush as soloists.
As reported by CE Report, Cairo Celebration Choir was established in 2000 by renowned pianist, composer, and conductor Nayer Nagui. The choir's first steps were linked to Bulgarian maestro Ivan Filev, who was then conductor of the Cairo Opera and whom Nagui considers his musical mentor.
