Johann Strauss Ensemble to hold charity Christmas concert in Romania
The beloved Johann Strauss Ensemble and maestro Russell McGregor return on Monday, December 22, to Râmnicu Vâlcea (Romania) for the traditional Christmas concert, which this year will be a charity event. The funds raised will go to the “Victor Giuleanu” Arts High School for the purchase of a concert grand piano to support the training of students in the music departments.
The Râmnicu Vâlcea event—the final stop of this year’s national tour by this reference ensemble of Viennese music—will take place on Monday, December 22, starting at 6:00 p.m., in the Grand Hall of the Vâlcea County Council, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
Local audiences are promised an unforgettable evening featuring famous waltzes, polkas, and marches by Strauss, Lehár, and Kálmán, conducted by the unmistakable violinist and conductor Russell McGregor, internationally recognized for turning every concert into a memorable experience.
The event organizers—the “General Magheru 68” Association, the Vâlcea County Council, and the “Ion Dumitrescu” Philharmonic—announce that all funds raised from this extraordinary concert will be directed to the “Victor Giuleanu” Arts High School in Râmnicu Vâlcea. The school has long been seeking to purchase a professional piano for its concert hall, one of the most important artistic education institutions in the county.
As reported by CE Report, so far, through activities carried out as part of the campaign “Sponsor a Key – Sound for the Future,” initiated by the school together with the “Irina Șațchi” Cultural Association, around €20,000 have been raised from the approximately €63,000 needed to purchase and install the piano. More than 400 talented students from Vâlcea will benefit from it in their training.
“Every day at the Arts High School, music comes to life in the hands of children who dream of reaching the world’s great stages. Unfortunately, the existing instruments are worn out and can no longer faithfully convey the beauty and complexity of classical music. A concert piano is not just an instrument: it is the stage for training toward excellence, the first step toward authentic artistic performance,” say the initiators of the fundraising campaign.
