Türkiye's Karahantepe among top 10 discoveries of 2025
Minister of Culture and Tourism for Türkiye, Mehmet Ersoy, shared a post on his social media account about the international success achieved by the Taş Tepeler Project, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Noting that Karahantepe has reached the world stage, Ersoy stated:
“Karahantepe, an important part of the Taş Tepeler Project, whose fifth anniversary we celebrated on November 26, was selected among the world’s top 10 discoveries of 2025 by the prestigious Archaeology Magazine and featured on the magazine’s cover. The scientific studies we are conducting on these lands are reshaping what we know about human history. I believe that this comprehensive process, ranging from micro-analyses to archaeometry, and from symbolic finds to conservation efforts, will establish Taş Tepeler as the world’s Neolithic capital.”
As reported by CE Report, emphasizing their determination to continue uncovering Anatolia’s 12,000-year-old story through science while protecting and presenting cultural heritage to the world, Ersoy thanked everyone who contributed to the project, as well as the Şanlıurfa Governor’s Office and the Metropolitan Municipality.
