According to a statement by the Gallipoli Historical Site Directorate of the Çanakkale Wars, studies carried out by the directorate have determined that the grave of Necip Pasha is located in the courtyard of the Cahidi Sultan Mosque in the village of Kilitbahir, in the Eceabat district on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

The study revealed, based on inscriptions on the gravestone, that Necip Pasha—one of the important figures in the city’s history—died in 1901 while traveling by steamboat to his hometown for medical treatment, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

As reported by CE Report, Necip Pasha was commemorated at his grave by Gallipoli Historical Site President İsmail Kaşdemir, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University lecturer İsmail Sabah, and members of the congregation of the Necip Pasha Mosque.

Built in 1902 by his wife in accordance with his will, the Necip Pasha Mosque in the city center is still standing today.
