The visit of famous American actress Angelina Jolie to the “Bambino Gesù” Children’s Hospital in Rome came as a surprise, as she met with young patients, as well as the doctors and nurses who care for them, last Sunday.

The “Bambino Gesù” Children’s Hospital announced the news in a Facebook post, CE Report quotes ATA.

The American actress, known for her humanitarian work, was deeply moved by the hospital’s mission—not only its medical care but also its dedication to welcoming children who come to Rome for treatment from across Italy and around the world.

Thanks to its network of care homes and the work of cultural mediators, the hospital hosts children and families, including those from war-torn countries, who often spend months in the facility.

“I am grateful to the Italian doctors and nurses for the care they give to the children I met,” said the American actress Jolie.

“There must be much higher levels of care to help wounded, displaced, and vulnerable children around the world, as the number of people affected by war has never been higher,” wrote the pediatric hospital of the capital.

“A network of solidarity that never leaves patients, their parents, or their siblings alone. Thank you for stopping by,” the hospital added.
