The Center for Scholars and Storytellers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) published its annual report titled “Teens & Screens”.

It presents findings and insights on the media preferences of young consumers in the U.S, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

Generation Z (Gen Z) shows a distinct preference for animated content, according to the report.

The percentage of teens who prefer animation over live-action increased from 42% last year to 48.5% this year. And it’s not only the younger teens; nearly 48% of respondents aged 19–24 also prefer animated content, according to Variety.

Additionally, the type of content respondents choose to watch with their friends includes movies, followed by video games and concerts.

For the second consecutive year, teens stated that going to see a new movie in theaters is their top weekend activity (if cost is not a barrier).
