Bulgaria’s book circulation hits 5 million

A total of 8,891 books with a circulation of 5,297,385 copies and 1,252 pamphlets with a circulation of 1,009,001 copies were published in 2024, according to the National Statistical Institute’s latest publishing activity report shared on Facebook, CE Report quotes BTA.

Among the books published last year, scientific literature totalled 2,256 titles with a circulation of 364,000 copies; fiction for adults accounted for 3,024 titles with 1,464,000 copies; popular literature had 1,800 titles with 875,000 copies; educational literature included 1,379 titles with a circulation of 2,362,000 copies; literature for children and adolescents comprised 1,331 titles with 1,100,000 copies.

Of the total publications, 7,545 books and pamphlets were published in their original language (including Bulgarian), while 2,598 were translations.
