Superman Reboot Tops Box Office Again

The new Superman from 'DC Studios and Warner Bros' is flying high at the box office, taking the top spot for the second weekend in a row with a domestic gross of 57.2 million dollars, CE Report quotes ANSA.

With this result, Warner claims the title of highest-grossing studio in North American theaters for 2025, with a total of 1.32 billion dollars—surpassing Disney (though that could change next week with the release of Fantastic Four).

The reboot, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, has earned 235 million dollars in North America.

In second place is Jurassic World: Rebirth, the seventh installment in the prehistoric franchise launched by Steven Spielberg and still produced by his Amblin Entertainment alongside Universal. Directed by Gareth Edwards, starring Scarlett Johansson, and written by David Koepp, the film took in just over 23 million dollars, bringing its three-week total to 276 million dollars.

Disappointing is the debut of I Still Know What You Did, a late sequel to the 1997 horror cult classic I Know What You Did Last Summer. Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and distributed by Sony, the new chapter earned 13 million dollars in its opening weekend. Despite a modest production budget (18 million dollars), the result falls well below expectations and marks the weakest opening in the slasher saga’s 27-year history.

In fourth place is The Smurfs, a new animated film from Paramount, which opened with 11 million dollars. That’s just slightly below expectations for the live-action/animated adventure featuring the blue characters, led by a daring Smurfette voiced by Rihanna in the original version.

Rounding out the top five is F1, an Apple Original Film distributed by Warner Bros., starring Brad Pitt as a former driver making a comeback. The film earned another 9.6 million dollars, bringing its four-week total to 153.6 million dollars.
