National Film Fund Approved
Parliament has passed in the first reading a draft law to establish the National Cinematography Fund, aimed at supporting film production, international co-productions, educational initiatives, and the digitization of cinematic heritage, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Financed through the state budget, donor contributions, and other sources, the fund will be managed by the National Cinematography Center. Operational guidelines will be approved by the government.
The fund may cover up to 50% of film project budgets—rising to 60% for international co-productions and up to 100% for experimental or audiovisually complex works. It also supports innovative and educational film projects.
The law also includes a restructuring of the Odeon movie theatre, which will become part of the National Cinematography Center.
This year, 20.1 million lei from the 635.3 million lei cultural and educational budget has been allocated to cinematography.
