Soprano Anna Netrebko is forced to withdraw from her two scheduled performances of Aida, set for August 10 and 17 at the Arena di Verona, due to personal reasons, CE Report quotes ANSA.

"I sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause to audience members who planned to hear me reprise my role in this wonderful production by Stefano Poda," she said in a statement.

Netrebko expressed her excitement about returning next month for her three scheduled performances of Nabucco, saying:

"I look forward with joy to my three performances of Nabucco next month, which will mark my seventh consecutive year at the Arena Opera Festival. I can’t wait to return to this iconic venue in 2026."

Anna Netrebko debuted at the Arena di Verona in 2019 as Leonora in Il Trovatore and has returned every summer since, even during the pandemic years. She performed as Aida at the opening of the 100th Festival, in Stefano Poda’s production. This summer, she will sing Abigaille in Nabucco for the first time in Italy, on July 17, 24, and 31. These will be her only performances in Italy in 2025, following her recent appearance in Berlin.
