Lucy Liu to Receive Career Achievement Award at Locarno
Lucy Liu will receive the Career Achievement Award and premiere Rosemead in an international premiere at Locarno 78 (scheduled from August 6 to 16). Internationally appreciated for her interpretations in film, theater, and television, Lucy Liu will be awarded on August 14, on the occasion of the 78th Locarno Film Festival.
On the same evening, the actress will present the new film by Eric Lin, Rosemead (2025), alongside the rest of the cast, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Actress and director loved by critics and with over thirty years of career behind her, Lucy Liu has acted in films that have generated over $3.7 billion in box office revenue worldwide. Starting from her iconic roles in Kill Bill, Charlie's Angels, Chicago, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Presence, and Red One, she has continued to redefine what it means to be a successful woman in Hollywood.
In Rosemead, the gripping drama inspired by a true story, in which she is also a producer, Liu plays a terminally ill woman racing against time to protect her son from her violent obsessions. Lucy Liu is also an appreciated visual artist: her sculptures and mixed-media paintings have been exhibited in international galleries and museums.
As a UNICEF ambassador for over twenty years, she has received prestigious honors for her humanitarian commitment, such as the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award and the Women's World Award. Lucy Liu made history by becoming, in nearly sixty years, the second Asian-American woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Driven by a constant desire to push the boundaries of creativity and culture, she continues to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration: from film to television, from visual arts to humanitarian commitment.
"By effortlessly crossing different genres and languages, from blockbusters like Charlie's Angels to more intimate dramas like Steven Soderbergh's Presence, Lucy Liu has added complexity and depth to every character she has portrayed," says Giona A. Nazzaro, artistic director of the Locarno Film Festival.
