Today’s government meeting began with a moment of silence to honor the memory of legendary composer Eugen Doga, who passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 88, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

“Master Eugen Doga contributed our country's part to universal culture. This is a loss for everyone,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean, offering condolences to Doga’s family and loved ones.

A national Day of Mourning has been declared as Doga is laid to rest. Born in Mocra in 1937, he became one of Moldova’s most celebrated cultural figures. His iconic waltz from My Sweet and Tender Beast was recognized by UNESCO as one of the greatest musical masterpieces of the 20th century.
