“Mother Tongue” shines light on women’s freedom, cultural roots

As part of Europe Week, actresses Ema Andrea and Aida Talliente created a theatre workshop that conveyed to the audience the emotional experience of the play written by Elvira Buonocore.

The play, titled "Mother Tongue," was performed in Shkodër, Korçë, and Tirana (Albania). It centers on two women, two languages conversing, and a heartfelt story about identity, memories, childhood, migration, and freedom, CE Report quotes ATA.

With simple yet meaningful scenography, "Mother Tongue" confronted the audience with prejudices, misunderstandings, and the need to never forget to dream in the mother language. The play delivers the message that at the heart of everything lies women’s freedom, a foundation without which no free society can be built.

Every word and every silence in this performance was like a reminder of the values that unite us and the dignity that must be protected every day.
