The upcoming film The World Will Tremble, shot in Bulgaria, tells the story of the world’s first Nazi concentration camp. A joint production between Bulgaria, the UK, Israel, and the United States, the film stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Jeremy Newmark-Jones. Its gala premiere is set for March 22 at the Lumiere Cinema as part of the Sofia Film Festival, CE Report quotes BTA

Directed by Israeli filmmaker Lior Geller, the film is based on the true story of two Jewish prisoners, Solomon Weiner and Michał Podchlebnik, who escaped from the Chelmno death camp in 1942. Their testimony was among the first to reveal the horrors of the Holocaust to the world. Geller spent ten years researching the story, collaborating with Yad Vashem and historical experts to ensure accuracy.

Produced by veteran filmmaker Philip Roth, The World Will Tremble will be released both in Bulgaria and internationally, marking a rare global release for a Bulgarian production. According to Dr. Na’ama Shik of Yad Vashem, a consultant on the film, it has the potential to become "the most important, most viewed, and most studied film about the Holocaust."

Geller and his international team aim to preserve the memory of these events, ensuring they are never forgotten.
