Lucio Corsi, who came in second at the 75th edition of the Sanremo Song Festival earlier this month, will represent Italy at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest scheduled to take place in Basel, Switzerland, CE Report quotes ANSA.

A total of 37 nations take part in the international contest, including the 'big five' such as Italy, with two semi-finals set to be broadcast on May 13 and 15 by Rai 2, and the so-called Grand Final in which the Italian artist will perform his Sanremo hit "Volevo essere un duro" (I wanted to be tough), to be aired on May 17 by Rai 1, Raiplay and Rai Radio2, the State broadcaster announced.

Meanwhile young singer and songwriter Olly, who triumphed with the song 'Balorda Nostalgia' (Foolish Nostalgia) in the early hours of Sunday, February 16, at the successful 2025 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, said in an Instagram post Saturday that he was skipping the event.

Olly said he has decided to "forego the opportunity of taking part in Eurovision, aware that it is one of those things that perhaps happen once in life", explaining that he needed to "connect with everything that is happening, before looking ahead and continuing with my beloved live apprenticeship".
