Interior Minister of Croatia Davor Božinović said that the storm was most severe in Zagreb, where all emergency services are on the ground dealing with fallen trees, damaged roofs and injured residents, while schools have been closed.

Božinović stressed that firefighters and other services have been active and that cleanup operations will take time, CE Report quotes HINA.

“The situation is most serious in Zagreb. Firefighters and all emergency services are responding to all calls. It is certain that repairing all the damage caused in Zagreb since this morning will take some time,” he said.

He also highlighted the role of the Early Warning and Crisis Management System (SRUUK), noting that it issued an alert to inform citizens that schools in Zagreb would be closed.

“The Ministry of Education was in contact with the City of Zagreb, which notified all schools, and SRUUK was here only to support those citizens who had not received the notification,” Božinović said.
