Two children among victims in Yamaguchi blaze
Five people, including two children, were killed in a fire that broke out at a Buddhist temple in Yamaguchi Prefecture in western Japan.
According to Japan’s public broadcaster NHK, the fire started in a two-story wooden Buddhist temple in the Toyoura district of Shimonoseki, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene after an emergency call.
The blaze was extinguished after three hours, but the temple’s 730-square-meter main hall, residence, and storage building on the grounds were completely destroyed.
Five bodies, including those of two children, were found in the debris on the property.
The temple is located about one kilometer north of Kawatana Onsen Station.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
