Croatia’s biggest Ice Wonderland opens in Varaždin
The Ice Wonderland skating park, which covers an area of 1,900 square metres, opened to visitors on Kapucinski Square in Varaždin, Croatia.
According to the organisers, it is the largest ice rink in Croatia and in this part of Europe.
Mayor Neven Bosilj said that Varaždin has had the best Advent entertainment programme in Croatia for two years running, adding that it is therefore fitting for the baroque city to have the largest ice rink as well.
He also noted the strong interest shown by visitors in coming to Varaždin.
"We already have announcements for the first Advent weekend -- almost 30 buses from across the region! Visitors are coming from Austria, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and Serbia," Bosilj said.
The opening of the rink featured an attractive programme ranging from a synchronised ice show and circus acrobatics to a fire performance and stilt skating, performed by professional skaters from Dubai.
The ice rink in this northern Croatian city will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and until 11 p.m. at weekends.
At last year’s Advent in Varaždin, the rink was visited by around 30,000 skaters.
The park will remain in Varaždin for almost two months, until 12 January.
