Albania sees 5,500 monthly vacancies

Albania’s labour market is showing sustained signs of recovery, with demand for workers remaining high across several sectors of the economy, according to official data.

The government-run employment portal puna.gov.al is increasingly being used by businesses and jobseekers as the main channel for announcing and searching for vacancies, CE Report quotes ATA.

An average of around 5,500 job openings are posted on the online platform each month, reflecting both continued labour demand and growing employer confidence in the public employment-matching system.

Gertiola Çepani, director of Labour Market Services at the National Employment and Skills Agency, told Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) that in 2025 the sectors with the highest number of vacancies include accommodation and food services, wholesale and retail trade, construction, services, manufacturing, telecommunications, and other professional and support activities.

She said cooperation between puna.gov.al and local employment offices has produced tangible results, with more than 25,000 jobseekers placed in employment through public employment services, helping bridge gaps between labour supply and demand.

Vacancies are concentrated mainly in Albania’s largest cities – including Tirana, Durrës, Vlora, Shkodra, Korça, Elbasan and Fier – which remain the country’s most active employment centres, Çepani said.

Employers are primarily seeking candidates with work experience and higher education qualifications at bachelor’s and master’s levels, she added.

The most in-demand professions in this category include economists, managers, communications specialists, software developers, engineers and lawyers.

Demand also remains strong for workers with secondary education, particularly for roles such as waiters, shop assistants, heavy-vehicle drivers, cooks, bartenders and receptionists.

For candidates with lower levels of education, job offers are concentrated mainly in cleaning services, kitchen assistants, construction labour, tailoring and footwear production.
