
Albania’s inflation sees increases across key sectors
The inflation rate for September 2025 increased to 2.4%, up from 1.9% in the same period last year, according to data from INSTAT.
The annual change in food prices in September was 1.8%, CE Report quotes ATA.
The annual price increase was mainly influenced by the group “rent, water, fuel, and energy,” which contributed +0.83 percentage points, while the group “food and non-alcoholic beverages” contributed +0.63 percentage points.
Additionally, prices in the group “furniture, household appliances, and home maintenance” contributed +0.19 percentage points, “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” +0.17 points, “hotels, cafes, and restaurants” +0.14 points, and “recreation and culture” +0.11 points.
The groups “miscellaneous goods and services” contributed +0.08 points, “education services” +0.07 points, “clothing and footwear” +0.04 points, “transport” and “communication” +0.03 points each, and “health” +0.02 points.
Compared to September 2024, the largest price increases were observed in “recreation and culture” at 4.7%, followed by “rent, water, fuel, and energy” at 4.1%, “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” at 3.4%, “furniture, household appliances, and home maintenance” at 2.6%, “hotels, cafes, and restaurants” at 2.5%, “education services” at 2.2%, “food and non-alcoholic beverages” at 1.8%, and “miscellaneous goods and services” at 1.5%. For the groups “clothing and footwear” prices rose by 1.1%, “communication” by 1.0%, “health” by 0.6%, and “transport” by 0.4%.
Within the food group, prices in the subgroup “oils and fats” increased by 5.9%, followed by “milk, cheese, and eggs” at 3.5%, “meat” at 3.2%, “fish” at 2.5%, and “fruits” at 1.7%, among others.
