Moldova to negotiate investment protection agreements with Sweden, Kazakhstan
The Republic of Moldova will begin negotiations with the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Kazakhstan on bilateral agreements for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments.
The Parliament's Committee on Foreign Policy of Moldova approved the launch of negotiations with the two countries during its meeting on July 27, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
The agreements are intended to strengthen the legal framework for investments, deepen economic relations, and enhance investment dialogue between Moldova, Sweden, and Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, which initiated the proposal, the implementation of the treaties will support the development of priority sectors of the national economy, create new jobs, improve the competitiveness of the business environment, facilitate access to advanced technologies, and promote tourism.
The authorities said the new agreements will create more favorable conditions for attracting foreign investment while providing additional guarantees for investors through clear rules protecting their rights.
Moldova currently has approximately 43 bilateral investment agreements, including 20 with European Union member states.
