Kozloduy Unit 6 Shut Down for Maintenance
Unit 6 of Bulgaria’s Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant was shut down on Thursday for planned maintenance due to a heat carrier leak in the third steam generator, the plant’s press centre confirmed. The shutdown aims to ensure continued safety and reliable power supply during the summer, CE Report quotes BTA
Monitoring data shows radiation levels remain well below safety limits, with no changes to the radiation environment on-site. Current gamma background in Kozloduy is measured at 0.13 µSv/h, within normal national variations.
This marks the third preventive maintenance shutdown for Unit 6 in recent years, following similar actions in December 2022, April 2023, and summer 2024 for non-nuclear system issues and previous steam generator concerns.
