During a visit to Dambovita County on Tuesday, Economy Minister Bogdan Ivan announced that Dragomirești will become home to NATO’s Ammunition Centre of Excellence for all of Europe. This strategic project follows a U.S.-Romania agreement enabling a $220 million loan to bring American technology, in partnership with General Dynamics, to Romania, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The facility will produce 120mm and 155mm NATO-standard ammunition, including for Abrams tanks and K9 howitzers, making it the only such plant in the EU. Ivan called it a key step in strengthening Romania's partnership with the U.S. and enhancing European defense capabilities.

The minister also highlighted broader efforts to boost domestic military production, including five major projects this year and a 300% increase in the Economy Ministry’s budget for production capacities compared to 2024.

Ivan emphasized Romania’s potential to become a net exporter of defense products, stressing the importance of resilient supply chains and international partnerships.
