Bulgaria Targets Price Hikes Before Euro

The National Revenue Agency (NRA), the Commission for Protection of Competition, and the Consumer Protection Commission are uniting to prevent unjustified price increases ahead of Bulgaria’s adoption of the euro on January 1, 2026, CE Report quotes BTA

On June 6, the three agencies will sign a cooperation agreement to coordinate efforts, share information, and ensure consumer and market protection during the transition period, the NRA announced Thursday.

At a joint press briefing on Friday, the institutions will outline measures to enforce the law on euro introduction and tackle unfair commercial practices. Their coordinated efforts aim to strengthen oversight and ensure a fair and competitive market.

The announcement follows positive eurozone readiness reports from the European Commission and European Central Bank earlier this week.
