In the week leading up to Easter, wholesale food prices in Bulgaria saw a modest increase, according to data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets. The market index rose by 0.79% to 2.418 points, CE Report quotes BTA

The price of eggs remained stable at BGN 0.36 each, while staple foods like rice (+1.3%), lentils (+0.2%), and sunflower oil (+2.3%) saw price hikes. Dairy prices varied: white cheese rose slightly, while yogurt and milk prices dipped. Butter rose by 1.8%.

Fruit and vegetable prices mostly climbed, with lettuce leading the surge (+18.9%), followed by turnips (+11%) and onions (+7.2%). Exceptions included green peppers (−1.3%) and new potatoes (−6.4%).

These changes come amid seasonal demand and market adjustments ahead of the Easter holiday.
