Bulgarian Finance Minister Discusses Eurozone Accession with German and Danish Counterparts

Bulgarian Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova held bilateral meetings with Germany's Jorg Kukies and Denmark's Stephanie Lose during the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels, the Finance Ministry reported on Monday, CE Report quotes BTA

Petkova updated both ministers on Bulgaria’s preparations to adopt the euro by January 1, 2026. Kukies reaffirmed Germany’s consistent support for Bulgaria’s eurozone accession, while Denmark, as the future holder of the EU Council presidency, pledged organizational assistance.

Earlier on Monday, Petkova announced that Bulgaria will formally request extraordinary convergence reports from the European Commission and the European Central Bank by the end of February.

Discussions also covered EU competitiveness legislation. Talks with Kukies focused on simplifying corporate sustainability reporting, while Lose outlined Denmark’s priorities for its upcoming EU presidency and key topics on the Economic and Financial Affairs Council's agenda.
