Albania to raise minimum wage to 500 euros

Albania

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that, starting from January 1, 2026, the minimum wage in Albania will be 500 euros.

In a video message, Rama stated that the wage increase will affect 307,850 employees, who will receive the promised amount of 500 euros. According to the Prime Minister, this will be the first — but not the only — wage increase during this mandate, as the minimum wage is set to reach 700 euros later on, CE Report quotes ATA.

Moreover, Rama added that, as promised, the government will subsidize the additional cost of insurance contributions for private-sector employees for a nine-month period, allocating 90 million euros for this purpose.

“This is exactly who I am and who we are — we say what we do, and we do what we say,” Rama emphasized.

He also stated: “The 83 mandates you gave us to govern Albania for a fourth term and to bring it to the European Union’s table as an equal among equals are 83 more reasons than yesterday not to rest, but to work tirelessly — to return to you, with all the passion, will, perseverance, patience, and love possible, the extraordinary trust you have given us.”
