Talks on Ukraine's accession to EU officially begin

Negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova's accession to the European Union officially began in Luxembourg.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this on X, Ukrinform reports.

"Congratulations to Moldova and Ukraine on opening accession negotiations. This is very good news for the people of Ukraine, Moldova, and the entire European Union. The path ahead will be challenging but full of opportunities. Wishing you a successful start of the negotiations!" she said.

On June 21, the Council of the EU approved the negotiating framework for Ukraine and Moldova, which opened the way for the launch of negotiations in Luxembourg on June 25.
