Moldova claims bronze medal at European Boxing Championships in Sofia

Moldovan boxer Alexandru Paraschiv won the bronze medal at the European Boxing Championships in Sofia in the 65 kg weight category.

The athlete recorded two victories in the competition before being defeated in the semifinals by Ukraine’s Elvin Aliev, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Alexandru Paraschiv reached the semifinals after winning two bouts in his weight category, thereby securing the bronze medal.

Three other Moldovan boxers finished the competition in fifth place. They were Andrei Chiriacov in the 85 kg category, Andrei Zaplitnîi in the 90 kg category, and Daria Kozorez in the +80 kg category.

Cătălin Turcu (50 kg), Valerii Razmerița (80 kg), Nicolae Burduja (+90 kg), Maia Odajiu (51 kg), and Iulia Coroli (54 kg) finished in ninth place.

The European Championships in Sofia brought together 381 boxers from 42 countries. This year’s edition was the first European Elite Championship organized under the auspices of World Boxing, an international organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
