Albania’s Velivari mountain covered in snow
Velivari in Dibra, one of the most picturesque mountainous areas in the northeast of Albania, has been covered in snow, turning it into an attractive destination for mountaineers, athletes, and visitors passionate about winter sports.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of the mountainous area on social media, highlighting the natural beauty that Velivari offers during the winter season, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Snow-covered landscapes create suitable conditions for outdoor activities such as mountaineering, hiking, and exploring winter terrain.
Velivari is the highest peak of the Deshat mountain range, which separates Dibra from North Macedonia. Locals know it as Hinoska, while Czech and Slovenian maps used by tourists refer to it as Velivar. The mountain has gentle slopes, making the ascent relatively easy.
As reported by CE Report, the peak of Velivari offers views of the city and lake of Dibra, the town of Peshkopia, Lake Ohrid in the distance, the valleys of the Black Drin and Radika rivers, and the mountains of Mavrovo, Shebenik, Martanesh, Balgjaj, Lura, Orosh, and Mount Korab to the south.
Velivari is known for its unspoiled nature and impressive panoramas, and during winter it becomes a special attraction for both local and foreign visitors.
The area is increasingly seen as an opportunity for the development of mountain and adventure tourism, contributing to the promotion of Dibra’s natural potential.
Promoting such destinations not only offers unique experiences for visitors but also has a positive impact on the local economy, especially during the winter season.
