Tirana is emerging as one of the most visited destinations in the region, drawing thousands of foreign tourists from around the world who are choosing the Albanian capital to spend the year-end holiday season.

Isabell Mathersx and Lydia Bright, two visitors from the United States, are in Albania for the first time and described the country as welcoming and scenic, calling Tirana an ideal city for a short holiday stay, CE Report quotes ATA.

“This is our first time in Albania. We came out of curiosity, because we had heard so much about your country,” they said. “We like the culture, traditions and food. We visited the city of Berat and explored the Pëllumbas Cave near Tirana, which was an extraordinary experience. You have many beautiful places, but the nature in particular is fantastic.”

Another group of three young tourists told Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) they arrived in Tirana on Saturday evening from Indonesia.

“We will stay here for a week and are looking forward to exploring Tirana and several other cities in Albania,” they said.

Gerjan Duri, a tour guide with a Tirana-based travel company, said interest in the capital has increased significantly, particularly during the holiday period, as he accompanied a group of 37 tourists from Israel.

He said the group would take part in a five-day tour based in Tirana, with visits planned to Shkodra, and the museum cities of Berat and Kruja.

“Tourists say they are very satisfied with Tirana and the other cities, especially during the December holiday season,” Duri said. “They visit the main attractions and enjoy traditional Albanian cuisine.”

With rising numbers of foreign visitors, the Albanian capital is consolidating its image as a safe and hospitable destination, strengthening its profile as a year-round tourism hub.

As reported by CE Report, a new agro-tourism venture opened in Albania.
