The village of Stoianovca in Moldova’s Cantemir district is emerging as a notable destination for gastronomic tourism, following its inclusion in a cross-border gastro-tourist route developed by the National Tourism Office (NTO) and partners from the Village Travel Bot project, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Located near the Romanian border, Stoianovca showcases its strong Bulgarian heritage through traditional cuisine, customs, and architecture. Visitors recently welcomed by the NTO and InnoVillage organizations had the chance to sample unique dishes like Pilinamangia (a savory chicken sauce), Miurdea (a blend of aromatic spices), and freshly baked bread served with local cheese.

The route is supported by the Agency for Regional Development North-East Romania and promotes rural tourism through authentic experiences. Beyond food, Stoianovca offers a peaceful, multicultural village atmosphere, enriched by folklore, well-preserved traditions, and a scenic natural setting along the Tigheci River.

Founded in 1912 by Bessarabian Bulgarians, Stoianovca is home to about 1,200 residents—over 76% of them ethnic Bulgarians. It hosts the folk ensemble "Пламъче", a local initiative preserving and sharing Bulgarian songs and customs. The village also features historical sites, including a military cemetery from World War II honoring over 10,000 fallen soldiers.

With modern amenities and a strong cultural identity, Stoianovca is positioning itself as a model for rural tourism and cultural preservation in Moldova.
