
Bank of Italy: Tourism surplus up 15% in Q1 2025
After a strong recovery in 2023, when spending surged by +16.8%, foreign tourist spending in Italy continues to grow in 2024 and early 2025, although at a slower pace, CE Report quotes ANSA.
According to data released by the Bank of Italy, the surplus reached €21.2 billion, equivalent to 1% of GDP, matching the level of 2019.
Foreign travelers’ spending in Italy increased by 5% in nominal terms.
Preliminary data for the first quarter of 2025 show the tourism balance surplus was 15% higher than the same quarter in 2024, with spending growth of 6.4%.
