Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage of Albania’s first Via Ferrata, located in the village of Kuç and frequented by many hiking enthusiasts.

“Apart from the sea, there is also this, like in Kuç,” Rama wrote on social media, CE Report quotes ATA.

The first Via Ferrata in Albania is situated in Kuç village, in the Himara region, and is called Via Ferrata Himarë.

It was developed with the support of the Tourism Innovation Platform (TIP).

The project was implemented by Çeta Hiking after they won first place in a competition for building the via ferrata.

The first 100 meters of this trail were financed by GIZ, and an additional 150 meters were funded by the Albanian Development Fund (FSHZH). Through a Memorandum of Understanding between GIZ, FSHZH, and the Himara Municipality, this new product is becoming a reality.

Located in an area still untouched and unexplored by tourism, the Via Ferrata in Kuç will create a unique experience before tourists descend toward the southern coast.

This development not only diversifies the tourism offer in the region but also creates new economic opportunities for local residents and tourism operators, giving the area a new attractive dimension for visitors and adventurers.
