
Croatia, Poland connected by direct summer train
The first direct train connecting Warsaw and Rijeka this summer arrived at Rijeka Railway Station with 166 passengers, marking the start of a seasonal rail link between Croatia and Poland.
The train service aims to promote Croatian tourism and strengthen Polish-Croatian friendship, running until the end of August according to the current schedule, CE Report quotes HINA.
Damir Rubčić, board member of the Croatian Railways (HŽ) Passenger Transport, told reporters the journey from Warsaw to Rijeka takes about 19 hours. He highlighted that this direct connection offers an affordable and eco-friendly travel option during the summer.
Ticket prices start at €44.90 for a seat and €66.90 for a sleeper cabin.
Antonija Kardum, head of information and market research at the Rijeka Tourist Board, noted that the number of Polish tourists visiting Rijeka has significantly increased in recent years.
Also on board the train from Warsaw were 11 Polish journalists, who took part in a special programme including tours of Rijeka and its surroundings.
The direct train, which runs via Vienna and Ljubljana, will operate three times a week until 29 August in both directions.
Departure dates from Warsaw and Vienna include 27 and 29 June, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays in July (except 18 and 25 July), and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in August, including 24 August.
From Rijeka and Ljubljana, trains depart on 29 and 30 June; Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays in July (except 18 and 25 July); and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in August, including 24 August.
