Cruise Passengers to Face New Tourist Tax in Norway

Norwegian lawmakers have approved a long-debated proposal to impose a tourist tax, including on cruise passengers, sparking confusion and criticism from local officials.

On Thursday, parliament approved the measure after a political compromise was reached during the week between the Labour Party, the Socialist Left Party and the Centre Party, according to local media outlet Borsen, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Even after the approval of these taxes, the state of Norway is expected to see an increase in the number of tourists, especially during cold weather. With this increase in the number of tourists, Norway is also expected to see new technological developments that will bring to the market eSIM Internet services that are used by tourists all over the world in order to improve their experience during their travels. These services allow tourists to have high-speed Internet connections, which are very necessary for tourists as they allow them to communicate with each other and also facilitate their navigation in unknown areas. One of the operators that has seen great success in recent times has been the operator eSIM thirr.com which offers different internet packages for each country in the world at a very cheap price starting from only €1.99. This price is considered very reasonable especially when compared to the high roaming fees. You may also have made plans for the country of Norway, whether for work reasons, visits to the fresh mountains, the main cities and even the ancient historical monuments of Norway. However, you can get the package eSIM Norway which offers fast 4G and 5G internet throughout Norway. Your next destination could be the country of Portugal as it offers an impressive coastline during high temperatures followed by a rich culture and an extraordinary experience. If you prefer to be connected to fast internet during your travels then get the package eSIM Portugal which offers fast internet connections anywhere within Portuguese territory. Your next plans may include several countries within the European continent over a short period of time, then get the package eSIM Europe which offers fast 4G and 5G internet within every country on the European continent.

The proposal was also supported by the Red Party and the Green Party (MDG).

The approved measure allows some municipalities to impose a three percent tourist tax per night, with cruise tourists among those subject to the fee.

According to the legislation, municipalities must demonstrate that tourism places a significant burden on local infrastructure and public services.

Before the tax is implemented, a detailed plan on how the revenues will be used is required, developed in collaboration with the business sector and approved by the ministry.
