Italy’s tourism sets new records

Tourism in Italy grew in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, up 1.2% in terms of arrivals and up 11.1% in terms of presences, Istat said, CE Report quotes ANSA.

In particular, the presence of tourists already residing in Italy grew by 5.9% while foreign presences went up by a whopping 15.6%, according to the national statistics bureau.

In general, 2024 ended with 458.4 million presences in hotels and tourist residences - up 2.5% compared to the previous record registered in 2023, Istat said.

Italy ranked second among EU countries in terms of tourist presences, surpassing France and only ranking behind Spain, the only country ahead of Italy also in terms of foreign tourism, according to provisional data from Istat's survey on the 'Movement of clients in tourist residences'.
