Russia fines Twitch, Telegram, Pinterest over banned content
Russian authorities have fined Twitch, Telegram, and Pinterest a total of 10.5 million rubles (approximately $136,000) for failing to comply with legal obligations regarding prohibited content.
The cases against the platforms were heard by the Tagansky District Court in Moscow, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
The court ruled that the companies had failed to remove banned content from their platforms in violation of Russian law and imposed separate fines of 3.5 million rubles on each of the three platforms.
Russia has previously issued multiple fines against foreign social media platforms for failing to remove prohibited content and comply with the country's legal requirements.
Meanwhile, Telegram has been fully blocked in Russia over alleged legal violations, while Twitch has periodically faced access restrictions in the country.
