Ferrari driver penalized for yellow flag violation at Dutch GP
Lewis Hamilton’s weekend at Monza starts uphill, the first one dressed in red, CE Report quotes ANSA.
The Ferrari driver was penalized with a 5-place grid drop to be served at the upcoming Italian GP for violating the yellow flag rule during the reconnaissance lap before lining up on the grid.
This decision was made by the stewards at the end of the Dutch GP, who also handed him a 2-point penalty on his racing license. The former Mercedes driver had already come under investigation before the start of the Zandvoort race.
Hamilton was investigated for two incidents before the green light. The first was for not reducing speed under double yellow flags. The second was shortly after for entering the pit lane too quickly.
The penalty was halved because the stewards recognized his attempt to brake and slow down. The penalty, as per regulations, will be served at the next GP.
