Romania Sends 87 Athletes to EYOF 2024 in Skopje

The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) unveiled on Friday the national team for the 2024 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival (EYOF), set to take place July 20–26 in Skopje, North Macedonia, CE Report quotes AGERPRES

Team Romania includes 87 athletes — 49 boys and 38 girls — competing in 11 sports: athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, road and mountain biking, artistic gymnastics, swimming, judo, taekwondo, table tennis, and shooting.

Ioana Maria Savu-Istratescu (3x3 basketball) and Jessus Armando Banicioiu (athletics) will carry Romania’s flag at the opening ceremony.

COSR President Mihai Covaliu encouraged the young athletes to embrace their Olympic journey with confidence, calling them “the future” of Romanian sport. National Sports Agency head Bogdan Matei praised the team as true ambassadors of the country.

At the 2023 EYOF in Maribor, Romania ranked fourth overall with 20 medals, including 9 golds.
