Danube Ultra Tour to Attract Over 140 Cyclists
Over 140 cyclists from Bulgaria, Romania, the UK, Luxembourg, Italy, Ukraine, and Russia will take part in the Danube Ultra cycling tour, set to begin in late August from Vidin, organizer Boris Begamov told BTA, CE Report quotes BTA
The non-competitive event covers more than 700 km, ending in Durankulak. While some participants are expected to complete the route in under 30 hours, most will finish within 5 to 7 days. The route passes through over 110 towns and villages, with scheduled stops in Lom, Kozloduy, and Oryahovo. Twelve municipalities are supporting the event by hosting rest areas and receptions.
Begamov emphasized the tour’s goal to promote the Danube River as a summer cycling destination, noting that since its launch in 2014, over 1,000 participants have received completion certificates. “The project boosts local tourism and businesses by highlighting lesser-known communities,” he said.
